Kronologija metala zajema pomembnejše dogodke v metalu, kot so ustanovitve in razpadi pomembnejših skupin, izdani albumi in drugi dogodki, ki so zaznamovali zgodovino metala. Seznam zajema dogodke iz poznih šestdesetih let 20. stoletja do sedanjosti in se ne omejuje striktno na metalski žanr.

- Singel skupine Judas Priest - You've Got Another Thing Comin', postane prvi metalski singel, ki se prebije med prvih dvajset singlov Billboardove glasbene lestvice.
