Jasmin Čaušević, Slovenian sailor, traveler, freelance journalist and writer, * May 26, 1961, Slovenj Gradec. He is also a war veteran of the war for Slovenia (1991).

He grew up in Velenje, where he also attended school. After finishing school, he got a job in the then Velenje Mine in 1980, and then in 1994 he became self-employed as an independent entrepreneur.

In 2007 he set sail. In 2010 he decided to go sailing. As a self-taught sailor on the Adriatic Sea, and strengthens himself in independent sailing.

In 2014, on his 53rd birthday, he embarks on his first long sailing trip to Malta and back. He is seduced by the beauties of Italy, so he sails along it and then visits the entire western Mediterranean coast, sails off Gibraltar into the Atlantic Ocean, all the way to the Canary Islands. His goal is changing and he wants to cross the ocean, show sailing with a standard and unmodified 10 meter long sailboat Bavaria, and live with moderate and modest financial means.

Jasmin Čaušević is one of the few Slovenian sailors who sailed alone and sailed the Atlantic Ocean from Gran Canaria through Cape Verde to the Caribbean island of Barbados.

His life project is changing here and now he has a desire to sail the world.

As a freelance and freelance journalist, he has written several articles related to sailing. Most of the reports are from sailing and nautical fairs in Europe. He writes for several nautical online newspapers and print magazines in Slovenia.

In 2015, he summed up his feelings from sailing and began writing a book, the travel diary Whisper of the Wind and Waves, which will be published as his debut next year. He also tried his hand at writing a novel and in 2017 he wrote the first Slovenian sailing love novel, Love under the Sails. He summed up his travelogue from the Caribbean to the Pacific islands of the Kingdom of Tonga in his fourth book, Hidden Paradise, published in 2019. In 2020, he will temporarily end his sailing due to the covid-19 virus. He left the sailboat on the island of New Caledonia, returned to Slovenia and during the pandemic wrote a new love novel Nasedla, which he published in 2021. In May 2021 he wrote a new book, this time the crime novel Half Heart.
