Metka Zupančič (rojena 18. 6. 1950 v Celju) Zaslužna profesorica francoščine/modernih jezikov na Univerzi Alabame v Tuscaloosi, AL, ZDA, kjer je delovala med leti 2000 in 2017. Vitezinja v francoskem redu akademskih palm (2007). Pred tem je učila francoščino na Univerzi v Minnesoti (Minneapolis, MN, ZDA), na Bowdoin Collegeu (Brunswick, Maine, ZDA), na Univerzi v Guelphu (Guelph, Ontario, Kanada), na Univerzi v Ottawi (Ottawa, Ontario, Kanada), na Univerzi McGill (Montreal, Kvebek, Kanada), na Washington Collegeu (Chestertown, Maryland, ZDA) in na University of the South (Sewanee, Tennessee, ZDA). Med leti 1979 in 1989 je bila asistentka za francosko književnost na Oddelku za romanske jezike in književnosti Filozofske fakultete v Ljubljani. Po upokojitvi leta 2017 Metka Zupančič nadaljuje s strokovnim in znanstvenim delom v sklopu sodobne književnosti in kulture, s poudarkom na mitokritiki, obenem pa se intenzivno posveča študiju joge v navezavi na nauke B.K.S. Iyengarja.
