Usage[uredi kodo]

Link to entries in LSJ on Perseus Project.

{{LSJ|entry_name|link_text}}

Use Beta Code for entry name; a polytonic Greek entry name creates a link to "No document found".

{{LSJ|h(/lios}} h(/lios
{{LSJ|h(/lios|ἥλιος}} ἥλιος polytonic link text is fine
{{LSJ|ἥλιος}} ἥλιος "No document found"

For an equals sign (=), the Beta Code symbol for circumflex, use the template {{=}} instead of the equals sign itself. The template will place the equals sign into the link. (A parameter with equals sign is invalid, since equals sign is a symbol in template code: parameter = value.)

For a citation, place ref as the second or third parameter. For a short citation, use shortref.

{{LSJ|h(/lios|ref}} h(/lios. Liddell, Henry George; Scott, Robert; A Greek–English Lexicon at Perseus Project
{{LSJ|h(/lios|ἥλιος|cite}} ἥλιος. Liddell, Henry George; Scott, Robert; A Greek–English Lexicon at Perseus Project
{{LSJ|h(/lios|ἥλιος|ref}} ἥλιος. Liddell, Henry George; Scott, Robert; A Greek–English Lexicon at Perseus Project
{{LSJ|h(/lios|ἥλιος|longref}} ἥλιος in Liddell, Henry George; Scott, Robert (1940) A Greek–English Lexicon, revised and augmented throughout by Jones, Sir Henry Stuart, with the assistance of McKenzie, Roderick. Oxford: Clarendon Press. In the Perseus Digital Library, Tufts University.
{{LSJ|h(/lios|shortref}} h(/lios in Liddell and Scott
{{LSJ|h(/lios|ἥλιος|shortref}} ἥλιος in Liddell and Scott
example case and explanation

For some words, finding a Perseus entry is hard because of dialectal variants, non-conventional Beta Code, and numbers marking homographs. For these words, search using Beta Code (with or without accents) in Dictionary Entry Lookup on the Search Tools page (select Greek in drop-down list).

{{LSJ|lew/s|λεώς}} λεώς no entry for Attic form
{{LSJ|lho/s|ληός}} ληός no entry for Ionic form
{{LSJ|lao/s|λαός}} λαός Doric form needs macron
{{LSJ|la_o/s|λᾱός}} λᾱός needs number to distinguish from homograph λᾶος2
{{LSJ|la_o/s1|λᾱός1}} λᾱός1 correct dialect, macron, number

Non-traditional Beta Code used in Perseus entry names includes underscore _ for macron and caron ^ for micron or breve. A macron or micron that appears on its own is sometimes marked in the entry form. A macron or micron that appears on the same vowel as an acute or breathing is noted in brackets after the entry, and doesn't have to be bothered with: a)rgu/rion [u^].
