Predloga se uporablja na številnih straneh.
Z urejanjem te predloge lahko zelo obremenite strežnike, zato pred uvedbo vse spremembe, ki jih želite uvesti, preizkusite na njenih podstraneh (/peskovnik oziroma /testniprimeri) ali na svojih lastnih podstraneh. Preizkusite jih lahko tudi v posebnem peskovniku za predloge. Preizkušene spremembe se lahko v predlogo dodajo z enim samim urejanjem. Preden predlogo spremenite, se o spremembah rajši pogovorite na njeni pogovorni strani.

Predloga:Short description se uporablja za dodajanje kratkega opisa (ki se lahko ureja znotraj Wikipedije) na Wikipedijino stran. Ta opis se pojavi v Wikipedijinih mobilnih iskalnikih in tudi drugje, in pomaga uporabnikom identificirati želeni članek.

Informacije o predlogi[uredi kodo]

Vsak članek naj bi vseboval kratek opis:

  • pri neposredni uporabi te predloge, naj bi bil vsak kratek opis unikaten za članek
  • opisi vključeni v drugi predlogi, kot je razločitvena predloga, kjer je generičen kratek opis ustrezen za večje število strani
  • kjer je kratek opis vzet iz podatkov v infopolju

Avtomatsko generirani opisi znotraj predlog naj nastavijo drugi parameter kot noreplace, tako da ne prepišejo kakršenkoli kratek opis posebej dodan v članku.

Kraki opisi običajno niso potrebni na straneh, ki niso članki, kot so preusmeritve, anpak so prav tako lahko uporabni.

Če je naslov članka dovolj dober za zagotovitev zanesljive informacije o članku, se lahko uporabi null vrednost {{Short description|none}}.

Kratek opis nima nujno enake funkcije kot opis v Wikipodatkih in ni potrebno, da sta enaka. Nekateri opisi v Wikipodatkih so lahko neprimerni in jih je v primeru uvažanja potrebno preveriti, če so ustrezni. (Glej tudi Wikidata:Help:Description.)
