Bitka pri Grenadi se je odvila 6. julija 1779 med ameriško revolucionarno vojno v Zahodni Indiji med britansko kraljevo mornarico in francosko mornarico tik ob obali Grenade. Britanska flota pod vodstvom admirala Johna Byrona (dedka lorda Byrona) je odplula v poskusu, da bi rešila Grenado, ki so jo francoske sile pod D'Estaing|Charlesom Henrijem Hectorjem, grofom Estaingskim pravkar zavzele.[4][5]
Byron je zmotno verjel, da ima številčno premoč,[6] zato je ukazal splošno zasledovanje Francozov, ko so zapustili sidrišče v Grenadi. Zaradi neorganiziranega napada in številčne premoči francoske mornarice je bila Byronova flota v spopadu močno poškodovana, čeprav na nobeni strani ni bila izgubljena nobena ladja. Pomorski zgodovinar Alfred Thayer Mahan je bitko opisal kot »najbolj katastrofalno ... s katero se je britanska mornarica soočila od bitke Beachy Head, leta 1690.«[7]
