Veleposlaništva služijo razreševanju različnih medjezikovnih zadev -- politike vseh Wikipedij, programskih odločitev in povezav na druge jezike. Veleposlanik za določen jezik lahko postane vsak, ki spremlja dopisne sezname Wikipedije in je pripravljen odgovarjati na vprašanja o slovenski Wikipediji v tem jeziku, ter se doda na spodnji seznam. V Meta-Wikimediji je seznam vseh veleposlaništev.

Non-Slovene speaking users [uredi]
You can use Babel template {{User sl-0}} to indicate that you don't understand Slovene language.
Please refrain from adding text from other Wikipedias translated by Google Translate or any other automatic translation tool. The text they produce is grammatically horrible and useful only for a very rough understanding of the topic. We do not wish to lower our reputation this way. Interwiki guidelines [uredi]
These are the guidelines used for interwiki links at the Slovene Wikipedia. If you run a robot regularly, please consider using a bot-flagged account.
- Interwiki links should reside at the very bottom of each page (after category tags).
- An empty line should prefix the interwiki section. No comment is needed.
- Each interwiki link should reside on its own line.
- Unicode should be used.
- Interwiki links should be sorted alphabetically, according to their ISO tag.

Hello, Slovenian Wikipedians, the Board election for 2005 now opened. Election notice is now available in over 20 languages(list), including German & Serbian (English is original). Please link it from Recentchanges of Slovenian projects, and if you prefer, please translate it. Cheers, m:User:Aphaia. 21:50, 4 jun. 2005 (CEST)

Science pearls [uredi]
Hi,
I address you as the ambassador of your wikipedia. Please notice the above project.
This project, more than other projects, will benefit from inter-wiki cooperation. Can you post a message regarding this project at your wikipedia village pump?
Thanks for your help, APH from the English wiki
Wikizine [uredi]
Hi, I am w:nl:gebruiker:Walter of the dutch Wikipedia. I am writing you because your are listed as ambassador of your wiki. I have something to say that I think you will find useful and possibly others of your wiki also.
You know it is not easy for the members of a local wiki to be informed about what is going on in the higher levels of the Wikimedia family. This because of the language problem and the high level of fragmentation of places where you can find information.
I am now making a weekly news letter (Wikizine) that attempts to provide the news of the Wikimedia projects. The concept is to list only a very short description of the news an give the relevant url to the subject. I want it to be short, only give the news that is important for all projects. The target audience include the ambassadors. It is for people who are interested in what it going on outside there own wiki. I emphasize on the news that is practical-technical. The information comes form several "news"-pages on several wikis, the mailinglists and IRC. There will be news I can not discover. If you have news found somewhere or from you own wiki please let my know. wikizine AT wikipedia.be
I can only create one version in something that supposed to be English. I count on the readers to inform there local wiki about the news in there own language.
Wikizine is send by use of the mailinglist Announce-l. It is only used for this. So people can subscribe without being swamped by emails like the lists.
http://mail.wikipedia.org/mailman/listinfo/announce-l
I hope that you and others of your wiki will subscribe to Wikizine and give feedback. So that Wikizine can become really a source where Wikimedians can find out what is going on. Greetings, w:nl:gebruiker:Walter PS: do not repond here. I will not see it.
Translation Request (2 sentences) [uredi]
For the front page of the Novial Test Wikipedia it would be nice to have a Slovenian translation of the following 2 sentences:
<>
Welcome to the Wikipedia in the Novial language!
You can read about the international auxiliary language Novial here.
<>
See the original request at Wikimedia Incubator here.
Thank you, Nov_ialiste
- Hello! Translations for these two sentences are:
-
- Dobrodošli v Wikipediji v novialu!
- O novialu, mednarodnemu pomožnemu jeziku, si lahko preberete tukaj. (tukaj means here)
- I think, that Novialščina is the right translation of the Novail language (like: Slovene (ugly: Slovenian) means Slovenščina).
- Best regards, Domen

Sani Bečirovič ? [uredi]
Perhaps you can help me to find the solution to the following problem: Which is the correct spelling of the name of the slovenian basketball player Sani Bečirovič? In the german wikipedia the name is written Sani Bečirovič, in the english wikipedia Sani Bečirović, with ć instead of č. Even in slovenian internet I found both spellings. A fact that makes me wondering is that, according to the information in the german wikipedia, there isn't such a letter in the slovenian alphabet. Maybe the answer to this question is, that the guy has nonslovenian ancestors, and the correct spelling is Bečirović, while Bečirovič is the "slovenianized" version? Thank you for your answers!
Hvala lepa, --213.54.157.101 12:51, 21 februar 2007 (CET) (in german wikipedia Lewa)
- I don't know what is correct surname of Sani. Letter 'ć' is perfectly fine in Slovene alphabet althought, strictly speaking, it is mainly included in foreign words, as foreign surnames are. Sometimes people change their surnames from endings '-ić' to '-ič'. I mean - it is true that Slovene alphabet does not include 'ć' as a letter, but 'ć' and for example 'đ' (and even for instance German 'ü') are written in Slovene language. The proper Sani's surname is of course that which is written in his identity card. And since Slovene wp has 'č', I guess this is also one strong argument, although the article in Slovene is merely a stub. Some Slovenes of course have stil surnames ending with '-ić', and -'ič' are not only 'slovenized' versions. I hope this helps somehow. Best regards. --xJaM 19:44, 27. februar 2008 (CET)
The official site of Slovene basketball association spells the name Bečirović. I think this should be regarded as the most trusted source. - j. Usenik

Hi! Need your help… [uredi]
Hi! I'm from Polish Wiktionary. We are translating names of our main templates into various languages (our top 50) in order to help users who don’t speak Polish understand our articles. When they change language in preferences, they’ll see those words in bold in their native language., so they can understand the article and edit it. I wonder if you would be helpful and translate for us just a few linguistic terms into Slovene. How about that?

The LocalisationUpdate extension has gone live [uredi]
The LocalisationUpdate extension is now enabled for all Wikimedia projects. From now on new localisations that become available in SVN will become available to your project within 24 hours. Your localisations get into SVN from translatewiki.net typically within a day and at worst in two days. This is a huge improvement from the old practice where the localisations became available with new software. This could take weeks, even months.
The localisations done by our community at translatewiki.net are committed to SVN typically every day. When the system messages in English are the same as the local messages, they will now be inserted in a file and are available for use in all our projects in a timely manner
What this means for you [uredi]
Local messages have an impact on the performance of our system. It is best when messages are as much as possible part of the system messages. In order to remove unnecessary duplication, all the messages that have a local localisation and are exactly the same as the system message will be removed. What we ask you to do is to compare and proof read the messages in translatewiki.net and the local messages. You can then either remove local messages when the translatewiki.net message is to be preferred or, you can update the message at translatewiki.net.
Messages that are specific to your project will have to stay as they are. You do want to check if the format and the variables of the message are still the same.
Why localise at translatewiki.net [uredi]
When you localise at translatewiki.net, your messages will be used in all Wikimedia projects and eventually in all MediaWiki based projects. This is how we provide the standard support for your language. When messages change, at translatewiki.net you will be prompted to revisit your translations. Localising is more efficient because we have innovated the process to make you more efficient; there is text explaining about messages and we have applied AJAX technology to reduce the number of clicks you have to make.

How can we improve the usability for your language [uredi]
We expect that with the implementation of LocalisationUpdate the usability of MediaWiki for your language will improve. We are now ready to look at other aspects of usability for your language as well. There are two questions we would like you to answer: Are there issues with the new functionality of the Usability Initiative Does MediaWiki support your language properly
The best way to answer the first question is to visit the translatewiki.net. Change the language to your language, select the “vector” skin and add the advanced tool bar in in the preferences and check out the new functionality. And make some changes in your user page. When there is a need to improve on the localisation, please make the necessary changess . It should update your localisation straight away. We would like you to report each issue individually at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Usability_issues.
When there are problems with the support of MediaWiki for your language, we really want to know about this. It is best to report each issue separately. In this way there will be no large mass of issues to resolve but we can address each issue on its own. Consider issues with the display of characters, the presentation of your script, the position of the side bar, the combination of text with other languages, scripts. It is best to try this in an environment like the prototype wiki as it provides you with a clean, basic and up to date environment. The prototype wiki is available for five languages but you can select any of them, change the preferences to your language and test out MediaWiki for your language.
We would like you to report each issue individually at http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/Language_issues. The issues you raise will all be assessed. It is important to keep each issue separate, because this will make it easier to understand the issues and find solutions.

Language support group for Slovenian [uredi]
The Wikimedia Foundation has brought together a new team of developers who are dedicated to language support. This team is to support all the languages and consequently it is not realistic to expect that the team members can provide proper support for your language. It is for this reason that we are looking for volunteers who will make up a language support team.
This language support team will be asked to provide us with information about their language. Such information may need to be provided either to us or on a website that we will indicate to you. Another activity will be to test software that will likely have an effect on the running of the MediaWiki software. We are looking for people who clearly identify their ability. Formal knowledge is definitely appreciated.
As much of the activity will be concentrated on translatewiki.net, it will be a plus when team members know how to localise at translatewiki.net.
Thanks, Gmeijssen 07:49, 11. januar 2012 (CET)
We need your help to support your language [uredi]
The Wikimedia Localisation Team is working on plural support at this time. There is a difference between how we support your language for plural in MediaWiki and how it is defined in the CLDR, the standard for such things.
Please help us by providing us with the necessary information and PLEASE do this by joining the language support team for your language.

Betawiki: better support for your language in MediaWiki [uredi]
Dear community. I am writing to you to promote a special wiki called Betawiki. This wiki facilitates the localisation (l10n) of the MediaWiki interface. You may have changed many messages here to use your language in the interface, but if you would log in to for example the Japanese language Wiktionary, you would not be able to use the interface as well translated as here. In fact, of 1,736 messages in the core of MediaWiki, 5.99% of the messages have been translated. Betawiki also supports the translation of messages for 126 extensions, with 2,174 messages. Many of them are used in WMF projects and they are vital for understanding the wiki. Currently 0.00% of the WMF extension messages have been translated. Translators for over 90 languages contribute their work to MediaWiki this way every month.
If you wish to contribute to better support of your language in MediaWiki, as well as for many MediaWiki extensions, please visit Betawiki, create an account and request translator privileges. You can see the current status of localisation of your language on MediaWiki.org and do not forget to get in touch with others that may already be working on your language on Betawiki.
If you have any further questions, please let me know on my talk page on Betawiki. We will try and assist you as much as possible, for example by importing all messages from a local wiki for you to start with, if you so desire.
You can also find us on the Freenode IRC network in the channel #mediawiki-i18n where we will be happy to help you get started.
Thank you very much for your attention and I do hope to see some of you on Betawiki soon! Thanks, GerardM@Betawiki

Foundation Images Policy [uredi]
Hi everyone,
I am Yosri from Malay Wikipedia. Recently I was informed by certain parties that MS Wiki need to delete any images tagged as Non-Commercial under Foundation Licensing policy. After I have done some studies, I realised that Wikipedia Foundations is moving towards allowing commercialises all images, as such they are acting on behalf of commercial company to require all images loaded with tagging Non-Commercial in all Wiki Project to be removed, including those loaded in local Wiki. Language support group for Sanskrit [uredi]
Thanks, Gmeijssen 07:46, 11. januar 2012 (CET)
Thanks, Gmeijssen 07:46, 11. januar 2012 (CET)

GibraltarpediA [uredi]
We would like to invite you to contribute to the GibraltarpediA project, the world's first WIkipedia City. The project needs writers, photographers, translators and others to help build the first wiki city which bridges Europe and Africa. We are going to transform Gibraltar and the surrounding areas in Morocco and Spain into areas rich with encyclopedic content immediately accessible using QR codes and NFC on plaques for visitors and local people. There are prizes to reward contributors in the Gibraltarpedia Multilingual challenge for the best editors, photographs and cartographers... whoever you are. More at Gibraltarpedia.org |

matične barve [uredi]
Hi all,
Eine kurze Frage: beim Durchlesen der Artikel zu den slowenischen Parteien im Državni zbor habe ich gesehen, dass bei der Beschreibung der Parteifarben jeweils "matične bave" steht. Sollte das nicht eigentlich "matične barve" lauten?
Wenn nicht, wieso nicht? If somebody should care to answer, please write to: guitarspeedyATinode.at —-Ta nepodpisani komentar je dodal/-a Uporabnik:85.125.100.93 23 (pogovor • prispevki) 23. oktober 2012.
Wikimedia Polska scholarships for Wikimania 2013 [uredi]
Hello! On behalf of Wikimedia Polska (WMPL), Wikimedia's local chapter in Poland, I would like to invite those active editors of this project, who wish to take part in Wikimania 2013 in Hongkong (August 7-11), to apply for WMPL's scholarship. It is WMPL's annual tradition that we fund scholarships for Wikimania not only for Polish editors, but also for a group of Wikimedians from other former Eastern Bloc states. The scholarship covers air travel, accomodation, insurance and conference fee. If you would like to learn more or ask any questions, please visit this site. Hope to see you there!
