You can use it only for educational or non-profit purposes, which is too restrictive licence for Wikipedia. I suggest you would do the same because the Wikipedia servers are located in United States. -Hapsiainen 13:17, 19 september 2005 (CEST)
[uredi] Science pearls
Hi,
I address you as the ambassador of your wikipedia. Please notice the above project.
This project, more than other projects, will benefit from inter-wiki cooperation. Can you post a message regarding this project at your wikipedia village pump?
Thanks for your help, APH from the English wiki
[uredi] Wikizine
Hi, I am w:nl:gebruiker:Walter of the dutch Wikipedia. I am writing you because your are listed as ambassador of your wiki. I have something to say that I think you will find useful and possibly others of your wiki also.
You know it is not easy for the members of a local wiki to be informed about what is going on in the higher levels of the Wikimedia family. This because of the language problem and the high level of fragmentation of places where you can find information.
I am now making a weekly news letter (Wikizine) that attempts to provide the news of the Wikimedia projects. The concept is to list only a very short description of the news an give the relevant url to the subject. I want it to be short, only give the news that is important for all projects. The target audience include the ambassadors. It is for people who are interested in what it going on outside there own wiki. I emphasize on the news that is practical-technical. The information comes form several "news"-pages on several wikis, the mailinglists and IRC. There will be news I can not discover. If you have news found somewhere or from you own wiki please let my know. wikizine AT wikipedia.be
I can only create one version in something that supposed to be English. I count on the readers to inform there local wiki about the news in there own language.
Wikizine is send by use of the mailinglist Announce-l. It is only used for this. So people can subscribe without being swamped by emails like the lists.
http://mail.wikipedia.org/mailman/listinfo/announce-l
I hope that you and others of your wiki will subscribe to Wikizine and give feedback. So that Wikizine can become really a source where Wikimedians can find out what is going on. Greetings, w:nl:gebruiker:Walter PS: do not repond here. I will not see it.
[uredi] Translation Request (2 sentences)
For the front page of the Novial Test Wikipedia it would be nice to have a Slovenian translation of the following 2 sentences:
<>
Welcome to the Wikipedia in the Novial language!
You can read about the international auxiliary language Novial here.
<>
See the original request at Wikimedia Incubator here.
Thank you, Nov_ialiste
- Hello! Translations for these two sentences are:
-
- Dobrodošli v Wikipediji v novialu!
- O novialu, mednarodnemu pomožnemu jeziku, si lahko preberete tukaj. (tukaj means here)
- I think, that Novialščina is the right translation of the Novail language (like: Slovene (ugly: Slovenian) means Slovenščina).
- Best regards, Domen

Perhaps you can help me to find the solution to the following problem: Which is the correct spelling of the name of the slovenian basketball player Sani Bečirovič? In the german wikipedia the name is written Sani Bečirovič, in the english wikipedia Sani Bečirović, with ć instead of č. Even in slovenian internet I found both spellings. A fact that makes me wondering is that, according to the information in the german wikipedia, there isn't such a letter in the slovenian alphabet. Maybe the answer to this question is, that the guy has nonslovenian ancestors, and the correct spelling is Bečirović, while Bečirovič is the "slovenianized" version? Thank you for your answers!
Hvala lepa, --213.54.157.101 12:51, 21 februar 2007 (CET) (in german wikipedia Lewa)
- I don't know what is correct surname of Sani. Letter 'ć' is perfectly fine in Slovene alphabet althought, strictly speaking, it is mainly included in foreign words, as foreign surnames are. Sometimes people change their surnames from endings '-ić' to '-ič'. I mean - it is true that Slovene alphabet does not include 'ć' as a letter, but 'ć' and for example 'đ' (and even for instance German 'ü') are written in Slovene language. The proper Sani's surname is of course that which is written in his identity card. And since Slovene wp has 'č', I guess this is also one strong argument, although the article in Slovene is merely a stub. Some Slovenes of course have stil surnames ending with '-ić', and -'ič' are not only 'slovenized' versions. I hope this helps somehow. Best regards. --xJaM 19:44, 27. februar 2008 (CET)
[uredi] Uporabnik:Philosopher <-- Uporabnik:Philosopher2
I would like to take over the account Uporabnik:Philosopher ([2]); I am Philosopher on several projects, including the English Wikipedia (admin) and Meta. I would like to be able to use that name everywhere with the SUL. I apologize for not placing this on the page for requesting account renamings/usurpings, but I don't understand the local language and couldn't find an adequate web translator. Thanks, Philosopher2 00:38, 6. maj 2008 (CEST)
- Write this to one of our bureaucrats listed here Wikipedija:Birokrati (clik to pogovor = talk). Also you ask for web translator: here is one http://presis.amebis.si/prevajanje/. Greetings, --Miha 13:17, 6. maj 2008 (CEST)
